Bird in the Hand, Goblin

Barn owls are found in open lowlands across the globe, but the scarcity of food and severity of winter weather limits their northern range. The asymmetrical location of their ears allows them to triangulate sound, and their ability to rely solely on hearing makes them excellent hunters. Though not officially classified as endangered by the United States, many states do consider barn owls endangered due the increased loss of nesting sites, predation by larger owls, and vehicle collisions.
